The Alabama Dental Hygiene Board Exam will be administered by CITA for the June, 2013 testing date. You will need to make application to CITA to take the 2013 Board Exam Administered by CITA. You will need to also make application to the Board of Dental Examiners of Alabama for licensure. You will submit the application entitled ALABAMA DENTAL HYGIENE BOARD EXAM LICENSURE APPLICATION.

Part of the Alabama Dental Hygiene Board Exam administered by CITA will be a written jurisprudence exam. This exam will consist of questions on the Alabama Dental Practice Act. The Alabama Dental Practice Act can be printed from the Board’s website. The jurisprudence exam will be open book and you will need to print and bring your own copy of the Alabama Dental Practice Act to use for the exam. The Board nor CITA will have any printed copies for you to use for the examination.
A written comprehensive exam will also be administered. If you have successfully passed the national boards, you will be exempt from taking the comprehensive exam.
Regardless of where you have received your hygiene training, you must meet all CITA deadlines for application to take the 2013 Alabama Dental Hygiene Board Exam administered by CITA. All forms, criteria and information will be set and distributed by CITA.
You will also have to submit a separate application and fee to the Board of Dental Examiners of Alabama for licensure. In order to be considered for licensure at the Board’s July, 2013 board meeting, your application must be submitted to the Board by June 01, 2013.
If you are an out of state applicant, you will also be required to make application to PBIS for a background check. There is an additional fee and application for the background check.
